Building Trust in AI Forklift Safety
February 8, 2025 – Building Trust in AI Forklift Safety

Building trust in AI forklift safety is important for ensuring the physical safety of workers. AI in our forklift safety system empowers forklift operators by taking action and stopping the forklift to avoid forklift accidents. Here are some benefits you will receive:

  • Real time Feedback on the Forklift – This occurs with the pedestrian and object detection warning on the forklift safety system. It provides an audio and visual warning letting the driver know what direction the person is at and if it is a person or an object.
  • Real time Feedback on the Telemetry Dashboard – All information collected by the forklift safety system is stored in the telemetry Dashboard and reports in an easy to read graphic way.
  • Minimize Downtime – Because of the reduced accidents and incidents, the forklift truck can spend more time on the floor. And because it makes it easier for maintenance to keep the forklift healthy, again, it can spend more time on the floor doing its job.

Now that the forklift driver knows that the forklift safety system has their back, building trust in AI forklift safety can become reality. Promote proactive safety in your facility with the SIERA AI forklift safety system that is AI and machine learning based. Contact us today!

U.S. GDP Growth Rate is Estimated to Grow in 2025
February 7, 2025 – U.S. GDP Growth Rate is Estimated to Grow in 2025

According to Prestige Economics, the “U.S. GDP growth is forecasted by the IMF to be the fastest growing advanced economy in the world in 2025.” That means the U.S. GDP growth rate is estimated to grow in 2025. The IMF stated that the 2025 US GDP is 2.7% and looking ahead to 2026 the growth forecast is 2.1%. So far, it looks like the U.S. has everything positive: the economic growth, labor market and inflation rates. With all this positive news, what does it mean for safety?

As growth rates are positive for the U.S. that means more activity in manufacturing facilities as well as logistics, warehousing and distribution centers. When more activity happens, that mean there’s a greater chance of a forklift accident occurring. How can you decrease accidents when times get busier? An AI based forklift safety system by SIERA AI. Why is it important?

  • Busier areas of the facility floor
  • Temporary workers are increased or new to the facility
  • Workers moving around faster to fulfill picking or putting away orders
  • More mobile equipment moving around the facility floor

These are critical factors that increase forklift encounters. Give the gift of safety to the forklift operator by notifying the driver when an object or person gets within the pre-defined space with an audio and visual warning of where and what the warning contains.

Be prepared for what’s to come as the U.S. GDP growth rate is estimated to grow in 2025. Contact us today!

February 6, 2025 – The Human-AI Synergy is an Essential for MHE Safety

The Human-AI Synergy is an essential for MHE safety. It plays a crucial role in enhancing the safety and well-being of facility workers, particularly those operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) like forklifts. AI offers significant potential in accident prevention and operational efficiency, acting as a tool to complement human abilities. However, maintaining human oversight is important to ensure the ethical use of AI and to build trust with workers and visitors.

That is why SIERA AI recommends forklift operators to be a part of the evaluation process for an AI based forklift safety system, so they understand that the AI technology is there to be a help and support to their job. AI is not trying to take job, but instead watch for people and objects that the driver can’t do. Why? Because the driver is already doing a task. The driver needs the extra set of eyes, and that’s what AI technology does for safety.

The human-AI synergy is an essential for MHE safety. By fostering a collaborative relationship between human expertise and AI technology, warehouses can achieve a balance that promotes safety, efficiency, and productivity for all workers involved. Contact us today!

Revenue Operations on an AI Forklift Safety System
February 6, 2025 – Revenue Operations on an AI Forklift Safety System

IndustryWeek released an article where you can download a report on revenue operations. The article discusses benefits of RevOps, how it can be used in both go to market strategies as well as systems across the lead to cash life cycle, improve efficiencies and the lack of technology adoption in manufacturing. All of these are great areas for a conversation, but let’s focus on revenue operations on an AI forklift safety system.

An AI based forklift safety system, especially from SIERA AI can generate revenue opportunities in key areas: damages, reduced accidents, medical costs, and efficiencies.

Damages: Every facility has damages as a line item expense. Create revenue, or maximize the revenue generated by not having to spend money fixing broken stuff caused by the forklift truck. This line item is approximately $150k, which can be per facility or in total. This can be done with both the impact detection and the pedestrian and object detection features. Contact us to learn more.

Reduced Accidents: Reduce accidents by knowing where the people and objects are within a pre-defined distance. By doing so will reduce accidents and increase efficiencies.

Medical Costs: We know that medical costs after an injury or accident are steep. We also know that they can last for a long time, not just months but years. A forklift safety system can get rid of these costly line items.

Efficiencies: This is where you gain. By getting rid of the above, you are able to be more efficient as downtime is minimal and productivity is up.

It’s now time to think about revenue operations on an AI forklift safety system to positively impact your facility.

Deregulation of OSHA on Forklift Safety
February 5, 2025 – Deregulation of OSHA on Forklift Safety

As we just stated in a previous post with record breaking labor laws, there are operational costs associated for companies when it comes to regulatory compliance. We do agree that most of the regulatory actions, when created properly, do help those working in facilities. But the costs for those companies that do follow the rules, invest in safety and try to be as proactive as possible, keeps climbing. In addition, it keeps adding to the plates of the safety professionals to the point that the constant addition of regulations makes it difficult, or challenging to keep up. Should there be deregulation of OSHA on forklift safety?

Instead of making the argument for or against deregulation of OSHA, an AI based forklift safety system by SIERA AI can do both. For instance, it is mandatory that the forklift checklist gets completed, as it is an OSHA mandate. The way it was done, and many times continues to be done today, is with a clipboard and a piece of paper, asking the same questions every day for weeks and years. The paper is put into a binder and shown to the compliance representative, and they will say ‘yup, it’s done.’ But is there any value? The answer is some.

With a forklift safety system, you have the option of randomizing the questions in each section to ensure you are getting the best answers possible. These answers are digitally collected and put into a way that allows you to analyze the data quickly and make great safety and maintenance decisions. Does deregulation of OSHA on forklift safety make sense? You’ll need to decide. Contact us today.

Record-breaking Year for State Labor
February 4, 2025 – Record-breaking Year for State Labor

Did you know that there were over 80 mandatory state labor laws in 2024? According to ISHN, this was a record-breaking year for state labor laws in a single year. 2025 looks like it may be a repeat of 2024. With all of these changes, how does a company stay up to date with compliance? Even with a large team of safety professionals, it’s still a huge task. Here’s the gotcha: failure to post the required federal labor law notices, you can be charged over $43,000. Nice. What can safety professional do to stay in compliance?

Automation. Technology.

Both of which SIERA AI offers. Now, as much as we would like to fix all of the compliance laws released and then those already in production, we can take care of the forklift. It is still a big one off of your plate. Let’s take a look at a few:

1. Digital Forklift Inspection Checklist: All checklists are housed within the forklift safety system. You can assign a checklist to one or all forklift operators. For instance, for the first shift, you may want the full checklist completed. But the second shift, you may only want three questions. Plus, you may want to assign a checklist for the dock to ensure safety, which you can assign to all operators.

2. Forklift Access Control: To ensure safety of the operator and those around the lift truck, forklift access control only allows those who are authorized to be on the truck. If not, then the forklift wont’ start. Even if the operator credentials expire, it won’t start, as it tracks their certifications.

You want to get a handle on the Record-breaking Year for State Labor? Start with an easy one. Contact us today.

The Challenges and Promise of Autonomous Forklifts in Modern Warehousing
February 3, 2025 – The Challenges and Promise of Autonomous Forklifts in Modern Warehousing

Autonomous and fully automated forklifts are making their way into the modern warehouse and manufacturing facility. Even though they display good promise, autonomous forklift has some challenges such as the initial investment, system integration, maintenance, technological boundaries, and workforce impact. What are the challenges and promise of autonomous forklifts in modern warehousing?

We know that the automation landscape continues to evolve with the rise of AI, machine learning, e-commerce and logistics optimization, collaborative robots, IoT connectivity, and a focus on sustainability. For SIERA AI, our forklift safety system brings in the best of AI and machine learning in order to maximize safety within the facility.

Our forklift safety system is a single solution, but can be broken down into two solutions. One is the S2 which is the digital forklift checklist and impact detection. The S3 includes everything in the S2 along with object detection and pedestrian detection. Both systems utilize forklift access control which stops those that are unauthorized from starting the machine! And it will also manage the forklift drivers certification. There is much to the system to learn about, which is why you need to ‘see’ it for yourself to experience the range of safety in your facility. It’s proactive safety at its peak. Whatever the challenges and promise of autonomous forklifts in modern warehousing, SIERA AI can protect manned forklifts or autonomous forklifts to ensure your investment stays in tact. Contact us!

Safety Training is Already Included in an AI Forklift Safety System
February 3, 2025 – Safety Training is Already Included in an AI Forklift Safety System

ISHN recently wrote an article on how safety training is becoming an investment and not an expense. The article takes us back in time when workers would be punished for talking about safety. At that time, if you needed safety measures, it was a bad rap to the product being manufactured. You may recall, even reading it in the history books, that the car industry did the same push back with seat belts. To put on a seat belt meant that their automobile was unsafe. Until 1968 when it became law. Today, we have seat belts in forklift trucks. But did you know that safety training is already included in an AI forklift safety system?

  1. Digital Transformation: Digital forklift checklists have grown from paper based to the basic electronic recording of answers to the forklift checklist. Today, it has transformed on the SIERA AI forklift safety system to capturing as much accurate information as possible with randomizing questions, and capturing the answers into a telemetry Dashboard for analysis and strategic decision making. This allows the 5 year purchase of forklifts to extend further and gain more efficiencies.
  2. Multilingual Checklists: As much of the AI forklift safety system is driven by sounds and visual cues that everyone can understand, our forklift safety system can also produce checklists in other languages such as Spanish. This allows for those who’s first language is Spanish to quickly read and answer the questions with accuracy. We even have the ability to add notes to our checklist to bring special note to the attention of the manager.
  3. Improve the Results: Helping the forklift operator do their job safely is the importance of a forklift safety system. It also improves results with less damages with object detection and reporting, and less worker / pedestrian accidents and injuries with the pedestrian detection. It let’s the operator know in which direction the object or person is in with audio and visual warnings. All these are recorded.

Ready to see how safety training is included in a forklift safety system? Great Contact us today!

Bureau of Labor Statistics Reported that Deaths Fell to 3.7%
January 31, 2025 – Bureau of Labor Statistics Reported that Deaths Fell to 3.7%

Did you know that the Bureau of Labor Statistics Reported that Deaths Fell to 3.7%? There was a total of 5,283 workers that died from injuries received from being on-the-job in 2023. This was a 3.7% decrease from 2022. That’s a big drop, especially in the industrial sector. Now, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the data gain, and this time it fell .2% or 3.5%. Still a wonderful marked improvement for the second year in a row. The National Safety Council added that additional education and training will be necessary to keep people safe. Although we agree with the NSC, isn’t there something else that can be done?

Yes, an intelligent, AI forklift safety system can impact the safety results for lift trucks. That’s because the forklift safety system is fast. It searches for people or objects within a pre-defined distance every 60ms. It knows what is a person or an object. This gives critical information to the driver so they can take the appropriate action to avoid an accident. All that data is captured and stored in the online Dashboard where it can be analyzed and critical decisions made. Want to see the telemetry Dashboard where all of the data is housed? Contact us today for a special one-on-one demo of the forklift safety system. Then you can be on the positive side of the Bureau of Labor Statistics Reported that Deaths Fell to 3.7%.

Proactive AI Forklift Safety System Adds Safety to Floor Markings
January 30, 2025 – Proactive AI Forklift Safety System Adds Safety to Floor Markings

There are improved technologies released to help in the area of safety in the facility. One that was recently discussed in safety publications is a projection onto the floor for guidance, crossing areas and stops to name a few. These are helpful as the markings on the floor wear out over time and the projection on the floor can help. As this is certainly needed on the facility floor, it still isn’t a proactive safety solution to stop or reduce forklift accidents from occurring. What can a proactive AI forklift safety system adds safety to floor markings? Let’s find out.

This is where the SIERA AI forklift safety system comes in. The floor markings continue to be valuable for the forklift driver, and if projections on the floor help the organization, great. We’ve taken safety in a more advanced direction by being proactive. Our AI based forklift safety system is monitoring every 60ms for either an object or a person that comes within a predefined distance and warns the operator of the upcoming threat. This is the critical value a forklift safety system brings.

There’s also the collection of data due to the technology being used. To add value to the floor markings, our telemetry Dashboard will inform of the hot spots, or areas where near misses or issues reside. Now you can reduce the risk in the area because of the information you know and make the appropriate changes. Contact us today to discuss how proactive AI forklift safety system adds safety to floor markings even projections.

Reduce Cargo Theft by Implementing Forklift Access Control
January 30, 2025 – Reduce Cargo Theft by Implementing Forklift Access Control

Theft is always a factor when it comes to distribution centers, logistics and warehousing. But the real kicker is when the thieves use your own equipment, like a forklift, to help move the stuff they want to steal. According to Pedigree Technologies, cargo thefts have gone up by 68% in Q4 of 2023 as compared to the same time the year prior. Of course, holidays are key targets, and criminals know it. Theft is unfortunately a line item in your expenses. SIERA AI are constantly asked about our forklift safety system and can it help with cargo theft. There is a feature on the forklift safety system that can have a huge impact. Let’s quickly discuss how SIERA AI can reduce cargo theft by implementing forklift access control.

Forklift access control, a key feature, that can take some of the control out of criminal hands. This means that if the forklift doesn’t start, then it can’t be used to remove your items. This is done with the SIERA AI AI based, intelligent forklift safety system. The forklift can only be accessed by the forklift operator who’s been assigned that forklift, and is certified on the class forklift as well. If it’s not the right person, the forklift won’t start. This is what is needed in order to reduce cargo theft by implementing forklift access control. Contact us today to learn more.

Supply Chain Future Includes Forklifts
January 28, 2025 – Supply Chain Future Includes Forklifts

If we know one thing for certain, the supply chain future includes forklifts. In Globe Trade Magazine, the recent article stated, “one thing is clear: the supply chain volatility of recent years isn’t going anywhere.” However, in the article, it stated that their goals for 2025 consist of automation and predictive analytics, AI, cybersecurity and the customer experience. The best part of these goals stated in the article, SIERA AI fulfills each one of them with our AI based forklift safety system.

The AI based forklift safety system, is included in the supply chain as these machines are what keeps the business moving. But in order to maintain the productivity of the facility, no forklift accidents or injuries can happen. In order for that to be achieved, the SIERA AIs AI based forklift safety system needs to be implemented. The forklift safety system is an open system, meaning it can work on any make or model forklift, which is critical. Then add that it scans every 60ms searching for people or objects is vital.

By identifying these two items, the operator can stay away from accidents as they are identified and reported in our telemetry Dashboard. With the Dashboard, the safety manager can identify where the troubled hot spots are at within the facility, know which forklift or lift trucks needs tending to, and which forklift driver needs tailored training. The combination can make the company more profitable as the life of the forklift is being extended, it won’t be hitting other equipment and will not be in contact with people. Learn how you can apply this to your facility today.

Visibility Begins with the Right Forklift Safety System
January 27, 2025 – Visibility Begins with the Right Forklift Safety System

In a global trade magazine article, it was discussing the consistent results of surveys for logistics, production, operations and safety managers that visibility is a key sore spot for these professionals. However, according to these professionals, the word visibility means something different to each of them. We would agree. Except if you mention the word forklift. To do it right, visibility begins with the right forklift safety system. Here’s how.

An AI based forklift safety system brings visibility to all things unseen. This means that the SIERA AI forklift safety system has intelligence to constantly scan every 60ms searching for people and objects. Its intelligence will differentiate between the two and warn the operator with an audio and visual alert. It will even tell the operator which direction the person or object is in. This brings heightened visibility with the right forklift safety system directly onto the facility floor ensuring the operations, production, workers and the facility itself from damage or harm. This solution has a positive impact on everyone and everything, reducing accidents while increasing productivity. Now that this can be scratched off the list for everyone, are you ready to get started with visibility begins with the right forklift safety system? Contact us today to learn more.

Forklift Reaction Time
January 25, 2025 – Forklift Reaction Time

Have you ever wondered about forklift reaction time of your forklift operator? Do you rely on your forklift operators to have eyes in the back of their head? If they do, you’re good to go. For the rest of us, we can’t look at the job we’re doing and watch at the same time for pedestrians. So every time the forklift operator is out working, there is a risk of an incident.

What are some ways that forklift reaction time can be improved?

  1. AI Based Forklift Safety System by SIERA AI. The forklift safety system will be searching every 60ms searching for pedestrians and objects. All information it captures, are stored in the online telemetry Dashboard
  2. Training with Information from the Forklift Safety System: Track how each operator performs. And, use the incident picture taking in order to understand what was going on with the operator. Yup, the operator, so you know how to conduct tailored training to make them better operators.
  3. Know Where the Incidents are Occurring with our Heat Map and GPS together. This is located in our telemetry Dashboard where you can make a difference for the safety in your facility.

forklift access control reduce violence
January 23, 2025 – Forklift Access Control Can Reduce Workplace Violence

According to OSHA, workplace violence is on the rise and that this may become a new category to report numbers to on a yearly basis. We’ll see what they decide. In the meantime, forklift access control can reduce workplace violence. This great feature on a forklift safety system can prohibit the forklift being used as a weapon. If you are not authorized to work a forklift truck, then the forklift will not start. If you are a forklift driver and only certified to work on a Class I, but not a Class III, again the forklift will not start. However, if you are on the forklift, authorized to drive it, then the forklift safety system will know that you are on it. In addition, if you have an impact with the forklift, then the forklift safety system will take a picture of the driver. This will allow the safety manager to know exactly what was going on during the time of impact. Was the driver looking in the direction of the impact, on the cell phone or looking in the opposite direction of the impact. This critical information will give the safety manager the necessary information in order to create a safety program tailored for the forklift operator so the individual can become a better driver.

Removing potential issues is critical for forklift safety. That’s why forklift access control can reduce workplace violence. Contact us today to begin your journey to an accident free environment.

forklift safety program
January 22, 2025 – Identify Forklift Safety Programs with our Telemetry Dashboard

A forklift safety system is a perfect solution for protecting the forklift, pedestrians and objects from coming into contact with one another. As the forklift safety system moves about the facility, it is constantly collecting data, giving you valuable insights into ‘seeing’ what you would normally never see or know about. With the data, you will be able to identify forklift safety programs with our telemetry Dashboard that can improve the way you approach safety in your facility. Let’s take a look at a few.

  1. Near Miss Detection: Knowing how many near misses, who is experiencing the most near misses and understanding where the near misses are occurring is data you never had before. Now add our GPS location with heat map, you can now identify where the action is occurring and create a plan to reduce near misses for both pedestrians and objects.
  2. Impact Detection: How many impacts are occurring? Are they low, medium or high impacts? Find out immediately so you can get to the incident before anything is changed. Next, check the system to see ‘who’ was on the forklift during the time of impact and find out what they were doing. This way, you know how best to take corrective action… if any.

Contact us today to identify forklift safety programs with our telemetry Dashboard.

posting forklift injuries
January 21, 2025 – Posting Forklift Injuries

The deadline for posting forklift injuries is coming on for those companies required by OSHA for the prior year on to Form 300A. Form 300A is a summary of work related injuries and illnesses. So if you had a forklift related injury, that will need to be listed on the Form 300A. Did you have any? Are you one of those companies that need to list the previous years injuries? If so, according to Safety + Health magazine who wrote about this subject also says that companies need to retain the records for five years and be ready to share those records if asked by an OSHA representative.

You can eliminate posting forklift injuries by simply getting a forklift safety system. This will allow you to avoid having forklift related accidents with a proactive system that identifies people and objects within a predefined distance. In addition, get forklift access control, seat belt monitoring, partial human detection and of course digital inspection and impact detection to name some of the great benefits our AI based forklift safety system offers. If you could eliminate any type of forklift related accident off of the list, what would that mean to your company and its bottom line? Take a look at our latest news.

settlement
January 20, 2025 – OSHA Settles with Amazon

As reported by ISHN, Industrial Safety Hygiene News, OSHA settles with Amazon over multiple ergonomics cases. It is reported that Amazon is to pay $145k in penalties as a result. In addition, Amazon will assess ergonomic risks in all of their facilities including their fulfillment centers, sortation centers and delivery stations.

However, none of this includes forklift safety or a forklift safety system. Certainly ergonomics is a critical component to workplace safety, and glad this gets fixed at Amazon. But we also must remember, that forklift operators and these same workers need protections as well. The forklift safety system will alert the forklift driver that there is a person or object within the pre-defined distance from the forklift. This is vital as workers try to cross behind the forklift, giving up safety for lack of patience.

It is important to think about the repetitive movements and the ease of doing a job, let us not forget the importance of forklift safety and the message we need to send which is to reduce injuries caused by forklifts a forklift safety system will protect and bring the damages, deadly encounters down to a small number, maybe even zero. As OSHA settles with Amazon, you keep your eye on the prize of reduced accidents. Contact us today to begin your forklift evaluation.

Safety What If's
January 20, 2025 – Safety ‘What If’

As safety professionals, you are always doing a safety ‘what if’ scenario. Would funds be saved? Would that person have gotten hurt or maybe not gone to the hospital? Would I have to be worried each day as I leave the facility? These are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to safety type of scenarios.

What would happen if you could make an impact on just a single safety ‘what if’? What would happen if you implemented a forklift safety system in your facility? The impact that it could make on the reduction or maybe elimination of the forklift accident with a worker or pedestrian. The impact that a forklift safety system could make if the racking system wasn’t hit, or the overhead door wasn’t damaged yet again. What would that do to your budget?

Even though a forklift safety system is just one item on a long list of safety concerns, but what would happen if you could actually eliminate one of these concerns because the technology is available today? The best part? Having the proof to show management and track for yourself where the hot spots are at and taking corrective action even before it starts. That’s what SIERA AI brings. Turing a safety ‘what if’ to reality. Contact us today!

Forklift Safety Risk and Opportunities
January 16, 2025 – Forklift Safety Risk and Opportunities

In every facility, there are forklift safety risk and opportunities. Opportunities? Yes, it is true. As we already know, there are numerous risks when it comes to forklifts. There are fatalities and injuries as well as product and facility damages. That is the easy part to identify. But opportunities? If the approach is right, there are good things that can come from forklift safety, namely a forklift safety system.

Opportunity #1: AI – implementing technology for technology sake isn’t the best approach. But implanting technology that solves a safety problem is worth the investment. That’s where the SIERA AI forklift safety system comes in. The intelligence can identify a person or an object and notifies the operator of which one is within striking distance. Now that’s doing some real work.

Opportunity #2: Knowing What You Don’t Know – This can include how many near misses is your facility experiencing, how many impacts, what was the driver doing during impact, and where are the hot spots within the facility.

By knowing this information and using the right technology, you can manage your forklift safety risk and opportunities that create a safe work environment. Contact us today to begin your journey to a productive and safe workplace.

Outstrategize the Competition with an AI Forklift Safety System
January 15, 2025 – Outstrategize the Competition with an AI Forklift Safety System

Is it possible to outstrategize the competition with an AI forklift safety system? The answer is yes. When we think of competition, we are thinking that that we get more customers because we are better at something. Maybe it is the product or it can be the service. Either way, operational efficiency without any stoppages is clearly a competitive advantage.

Have you thought about the forklift as a money maker versus an expense? We all clearly know the cost of the forklift truck, and it’s plenty. If the forklift truck performs at its potential each day, you can maximize your profits. In addition, it can be the competitive advantage because you got it to the customer… fast, unbroken and in good condition. Now do this consistently? You got a customer for life.

A forklift safety system can help you reach this goal by warning the forklift driver that a person or an object is within the pre-defined path. This means the driver will know well in advance and can take corrective action. This is critical for the driver as the driver cannot perform their tasks and look for people and object around the entire truck at the same time. We can’t do it driving, we can’t expect operators to do it. Getting a forklift safety system lets them do their job, be safe and you get the credit to outstrategize the competition with an AI forklift safety system. Get more latest news now!

Safety + Health for Forklift Safety
January 14, 2025 – Safety + Health for Forklift Safety

Safety + Health magazine is a great publication that hopefully all safety professionals read on a regular basis. We had the opportunity to share our AI based forklift safety system with the editors. In the November 2024 publication, we were featured in two instances.

In the Trends In … Facility Safety, Ram Kumar, CRO for SIERA AI answers the question, “Have traditional forklift safety measures leveled off?” Click here to get that answer.

Then, in their Facility Safety section of the publication, the editors spotlighted SIERA AI’s Automatic Slowdown feature of the S3 Pedestrian Detection System. You can find details of the feature here.

Getting noticed in a publication such as Safety + Health for forklift safety is an honor and privilege, and we appreciate their interest in learning more about forklift safety. Learning more about a forklift safety system saves lives of workers and pedestrians as well as saving the facility and products from damage. It is the next generation of forklift safety by using the latest technologies to identify a risk or hazard and warn the operator with plenty of time. However, if the operator doesn’t adhere to the warnings, that’s where the AutoSlow down comes in. It will override the operator and automatically slow down the vehicle. These types of technologies are proactive and will stop an accident even before it begins.

Do take a look at Safety + Health for Forklift Safety. You’ll find us there.

economic expectations
January 13, 2025 – Economic Expectations

Economic expectations are hopeful in the industrial sector and it was confirmed this week by Prestige Economics’ Jason Schenker. This week he named the five key trends to watch out for on the domestic economy and financial markets. They are: jobs, consumption, growth, inflation, and interest rates. Even thought 2024 was a ‘solid’ year, he says that 2025 has reasons to be even more optimistic.

When we translate this great information, this means facilities will be busier than ever. With a busier facility that means more forklifts moving and more workers moving around the forklifts. Clearly that means more accidents, damages and more near misses. Did you do what you needed to purchase in 2024? Did you get that forklift safety system by SIERA AI to keep damages, injuries and accidents to a minimum? If not, that all you got for 2025 is more of the same, and now higher the risk.

The AI based forklift safety system will help you keep your economic expectations high because we’re helping to keep more of the profits within the company by reducing the cost of damages, which on overage costs $100k per year, and $60k for an injured employee, not including some of the soft costs such as temporary workers, or revisits back to the doctor or more therapy.  You’ll protect workers, products and your profits by purchasing and installing an AI based forklift safety system by SIERA AI. New OSHA updates 2025 focusing on inspection protocols are taking affect now that the new year has begun. A big part of the OSHA updates has to do with equipment fit. This is so any warehouse equipment, which does include forklifts, can be properly fit for the various size people that work in the facility. The purpose is so the risk of injury is reduced and safer conditions prevail.

Leveraging technology can be a considerable help such as our AI based forklift safety system. This ensures that any people or objects that are within the defined path of the forklift are clear of obstructions. If there is a person or an object in the defined path, the forklift operator will know about it with audio and visual alerts. Now the operator can take action and ensure damage isn’t done and injuries are non-existent. That’s the goal. But let’s not forget that forklift safety checklist. This is key to keeping the equipment running in good working order. When it is, strains are reduced, working on a different forklift is minimized and safety is paramount.

Be sure to contact siera ai today to begin implementing safety within your facility and keep current on OSHA updates 2025.

Motivating Management to Invest in a Forklift Safety System
January 7, 2025 – Motivating Management to Invest in a Forklift Safety System

Motivating management to invest in a forklift safety system can be a hard task due to the investment the company needs to make. But what if you were to give them information that they didn’t know they could get? It seems a bit unrealistic, but let’s look at a couple examples.

Heat Map: Showing management identified targets of where you focused on your safety efforts will give them pause. It’s not a guessing game, or trying to fix something after an accident has happened, this is real proof of pinpointing areas for improvement and adjustments. Now you can tell them what adjustments you made and now its fixed. How do you know? That numbers will show you that with a second round of heat map proof.

Say Cheese: There’s nothing like a picture that says it all. When an impact occurs with your forklift safety system, it will automatically take a picture of the driver. Yup, not the incident, the driver. Now the safety professional can take corrective action by knowing what the operator was doing during the time of the incident. Was the operator on the phone, doing their job or something else? You’ll get the answers so you can correct any future incident of it happening again.

These are just two ways motivating management to invest in a forklift safety system into investing in a SIERA AI forklift safety system today.

safety 2025
January 6, 2025 – Welcome to Safety 2025 and hopefully your safest year ahead

Safety 2025! This year we are encouraged with the interest in forklift safety. Why? We ended the 2024 year with a ton of interest in forklift safety and the promise of budgets allocated for the AI based forklift safety system. This was very encouraging as the adoption of new technologies always takes a bit of time. Now that we’re in our 9th year of developing and delivering forklift safety systems, we want to see every facility in the U.S. and Canada with our AI based forklift safety system.

Over the past years, companies have learned about the power of AI. Now, it doesn’t mean that AI is great at everything. Because we’ve been working with the technology diligently for ten years, that we can say with proof that the stuff does work for safety. It is finally the one type of technology that can make a difference in the safety industry. It can identify the person or the object and tell the operator that there’s something there.

But we know that not everything is that easy. We have challenges with those who don’t want to follow the warnings. That’s why we have the AutoSlow to a Safe Stop. It will override the driver when the threat gets too close, and start to slow down the machine automatically. That’s the power of technology. So Welcome to Safety 2025 when safety will finally become mainstream!

constantly watch over me
December 5, 2024 – Is the AI Based Forklift Safety System Constantly Watching Over Me?

As you can image, we’ve seen it all, including forklift operators trying to smash, hit and break the AI based camera and tablet. Even go as far as argue with the safety professional that the forklift operator is not trusted! Sometimes they even ask, “Is the AI based forklift safety system constantly watching over me?” What they need to know is that it’s not about you. It’s about the safety of the environment, the workers and you. What can you explain? Here are three.

  1. The forklift safety system acts as an extra set of eyes in order to ensure that you don’t hit a person, product or even the building itself.
  2. We know that as we drive a car, that’s all that we do. Drive. And we have backing up cameras to help us ‘see’ what’s there. That’s what a forklift safety system does. However, what’s different is that you have to work and watch out for pedestrians at the same time. This will allow you to work and the system will do the watching.
  3. The forklift safety system will also help us safety professionals by identifying hot spots, which are areas of risk for an accident. This helps us to resolve the situation even before it gets a chance to mature. Now you and others can work safer.

That’s what this all about. Aiding in your work so you don’t have to worry about your friends and co-workers around the forklift. So when you ask, is the AI based forklift safety system constantly watching over me? It’s watching over everything so everyone stays safe. Contact us today!

forklift being used as a weapon
December 4, 2024 – Forklifts Being Used as a Weapon

According to OSHA, workplace violence is on the rise. When that happens, anything and everything around them can be used against another individual. We can’t protect everything, but somethings like a forklift we can. This is where forklift access control comes in. This will eliminate forklifts being used as a weapon. Let’s take a further look.

  • If you don’t have authorized access to operate the forklift, the forklift will not start. Regardless of how hard you try, it will not start.
  • An authorized forklift operator needs to enter in their 4 digit code or scan their QR code in order to gain entry to the forklift. However, it still will not start unless the forklift inspection checklist is done and the forklift passes inspection.
  • If an impact is made during driving, a picture of the driver will be taken (optional) and the G force of the impact will be recorded. It will also give a warning that you have X seconds to pull over before the forklift automatically shuts down.

These are great ways to ensure that the forklifts being used as a weapon will never happen. Next, contact SIERA AI to learn more about our forklift safety system.

Forklift Safety and Compliance
November 20, 2024 – Forklift Safety and Compliance

Safety professionals are constantly searching for ways to improve forklift safety and compliance. But there are always struggles. Many of the challenges are about convincing the drivers to complete the forklift inspection checklist, watch for pedestrians, use the horn at the end of aisles, and drive in reverse especially when there’s a large load on the forks. Drivers can always improve, but do we expect too much from a forklift driver?

We all know that when we drive our cars, that’s all we’re to do. There are campaigns that say don’t text and drive, or don’t talk on the phone and drive, yet, forklift operators are to drive, work and watch for pedestrians all at the same time. That’s a tall order and impossible to do. Which is why we have forklift accidents.

Forklift safety and compliance can be reached with a forklift safety system by SIERA AI as we have built in intelligence, AI and machine learning, that works to keep the driver safe with impact detection, pedestrian detection and object detection. All this data is collected so you can analyze it and understand where safety can be improved and compliance is maintained. Contact us today to begin your safety journey with proven technologies.

Safety professionals have begun the transition from thinking about forklift safety from the traditional reactive sense, to a more forward thinking proactive safety approach. Being able to rethink forklift safety can bring deeper understanding on the way the facility works in ways that safety professionals didn’t know existed. Do you believe it’s time to rethink forklift safety? Let’s take a look at a few ways:

  1. Reactive to Proactive: One change ahead is the forklift inspection. In many facilities it is still being done in a reactive way with paper and a clipboard. The new proactive way is to digitalize the process. However just like pencil whipping, digital whipping can also exist. That’s why being proactive means ensuring the randomization feature is on. Now you can change the order and maybe even update the questions to keep the answers as accurate as possible.
  2. Reactive to Proactive: Pedestrian Detection using AI and machine learning technology is here for some forklift safety systems, but not all. This technology has many nervous, but in this case, it is used for good. It has the intelligence to recognize and know the difference between a person and an object. Once identified, it will warn the driver that one of those two items are within the path.

This AI and ML technology can be used to improve forklift safety. Contact us today to learn more.

ROI on an AI Forklift Safety System
November 7, 2024 – ROI on an AI Forklift Safety System

We all know what ROI means. But do you know ROI on an AI forklift safety system means? Here we can take a look at efficiency, performance or profitability of an investment, which in this case is the forklift safety system.

Efficiency – when we talk about efficiency with a forklift safety system, we look downtime of the forklift fleet, the number of delays which could be objects or pedestrians that would be counted toward near misses as well as issues with the forklift truck. These efficiencies are met with a forklift safety system. These efficiencies are tracked and reported in a Dashboard so you can make those changes necessary to improve efficiencies.

Performance – this is a great word that means how is your operation doing? Do you have all of the efficiencies under control? If so, then you should experience a boost in performance. The orders are being filled quickly with out issue, the put aways are done without stopping due to obstructions. Your operation is performing flawlessly.

Profitability – When you have an efficient facility performing at its peak, you will be making profits. This is the goal of every business. To get to this level, an ROI on an AI forklift safety system by SIERA.AI is the only way to achieve all three in your facilities. Contact us today to get started.

Digitizing Forklift Inspections for OSHA Compliance
November 6, 2024 – Digitizing Forklift Inspections for OSHA Compliance

Digitalizing forklift inspections for OSHA compliance allows you to get rid of paper based inspections, accuracy over the answers to the inspection questions and overall control over the health of your forklift fleet.

Get rid of the clip board and paper forklift inspections where pencil whipping is a common occurrence. By digitizing the forklift inspection for OSHA compliance, you can capture the answers to the questions in order to pinpoint if the lift truck is starting to have wear and tear issues, repair or maintenance.

Digital answers can give you accuracy over the answers. But you can fall into the same trap as pencil whipping or digital whipping by not changing things up. That’s why our S2 forklift safety system allows you to randomize the questions in each section of the forklift inspection. Now this encourages the forklift driver to read each question or risk failing the inspection.

Just the combination of these two items allows you to gain better control over the health of each forklift in your fleet. This allows you to stay one step ahead of the forklift health extending the lift of the forklift. This will help you to extend the investment in the fleet.

High Risk Areas for Forklifts
October 31, 2024 – High Risk Areas for Forklifts

SIERA.AI’s AI-based forklift safety systems have the ability, through its data captured and stored in the telemetry Dashboard, to allow safety professionals to analyze data patterns and take corrective action. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits and identify high risk areas for forklifts.

  1. Predict accidents before they happen: When data is captured in the telemetry dashboard, the data is easily accessed for analysis. Using the combination of the newly released heat map, along with the robust near miss reporting and GPS, safety professionals can identify the ‘hot spot’ or high risk areas for forklift accidents. Because of the near miss reporting, you can identify those maturing areas that will eventually become a high risk accident zone. Now you can make the appropriate changes to reduce the risk.
  2. Identify high-risk areas in your facility: Identifying high risk areas for forklifts is key to pedestrian safety. This can be accomplished by also using the impact detection reports. The impact detection is categorized by low, medium and high impacts based on the G-Force, which you determine. You’ll be able to identify ‘where’ these impacts are occurring and taking corrective action once the area is visited and action is taken.

OSHA to Begin Investigation for Forklift Fatality
October 28, 2024 – OSHA to Begin Investigation for Forklift Fatality

Just this month, October 2024, another forklift fatality occurred at CF Industries in Louisiana. What was reported includes the death of the individual once he got to the hospital. He was originally reported injured, but unfortunately, it didn’t work out to the person’s advantage. CF Industries did state that this was an isolated incident, meaning it was a stand-alone incident and others weren’t hurt, nor was there an additional incident tied to the forklift fatality.

The National Safety Council, NSC, did report that in 2021 to 2022 there was an increase in the number of fatalities. It was a bit of a bump in numbers, however, it was a person’s life, so each one does count as severe. We will need to wait and see where the numbers land in 2023.

If you want to avoid worker and forklift driver injuries and fatalities happening in your facility, please contact us today in order to get the most advanced proactive forklift safety system. The AI-based system identifies people and objects within the pre-defined distance ensuring notification to the driver with audio and visual warnings. Warehouse Safety A Proactive Approach to Forklift Safety
October 23, 2024 – Proactive Warehouse Safety: A Proactive Approach to Forklift Safety

Warehouses experience ‘almost’ accidents all day long with their fleet of forklifts. SIERA AI hears about these incidents all of the time. Here are a couple of proactive warehouse safety incidents that regularly occur.

  • A worker is putting product away inside of the racking system. When they complete the work, they back themselves out into the aisleway. At the same time, a forklift is passing that same spot.
  • Pallet(s) are sitting in the aisleway waiting to be broken down and put away. A worker begins to tear away the wrapping and bent down to pick up some of the debris. A forklift operator sees the pallet in the way and goes to move it to a safer spot. The forklift operator doesn’t know a person is there and didn’t see his foot was sticking out.
  • The forklift is coming to the end of an aisle and isn’t aware that a worker is there at the same time.

This is where a forklift safety system can solve these issues. The AI-based forklift safety system leverages the technology providing real time monitoring and collision avoidance with workers and product at the same time. This critical data can be used to train operators on what the system is doing to help assist and understand the results of how it has aided in their work. OSHA Severe Injury Report Includes Forklifts
September 26, 2024 – Does OSHA Severe Injury Report Includes Forklifts Go Far Enough?

About a month ago, OSHA released a video on its new OSHA Severe Injury Report includes forklifts. Here’s the link to it on YouTube. The video shows the new dashboard reporting on all of the severe injuries which they hope can help safety professionals get a deeper understanding of type of injuries, which body part was affected and which state it occurred. Being able to sort through a database of data can and does bring critical insights into your safety planning, which is why the SIERA.AI Dashboard is at the heart of our forklift safety system. Let’s take a deeper dive into this.

What is the OSHA Severe Injury Report Includes Forklifts? This is a data base of injuries that OSHA professionals found and reported over the years. The database has been ‘cleaned up’ to include the keywords in the narrative to make it easier to extract the information. The database can extract for you a full report, meaning everything in the database to certain injuries and other data such as total hospitalized workers, amputations, geography, top events and exposures. They do recommend keeping the sorting simple and drill down as needed. Much of this data includes the results of forklift accidents, fatalities and injuries. It doesn’t specify for forklifts. This is where SIERA.AI can take over and help bring more data and depth into the picture. Contact us.

Outdated forklift data
September 24, 2024 – Outdated Forklift Data

Relying on outdated forklift data in a facility can pose serious risks to worker safety. Without real-time information and comprehensive analytics, identifying and addressing potential hazards becomes considerably more difficult.

SIERA AI‘s forklift safety system uses advanced Artificial Intelligence or AI and machine learning to identify potential accidents before it gets a chance to mature. This as a result can improve worker safety and stop injuries, fatalities and damages in the workplace. By digitizing pre-shift forklift inspections, monitoring and identifying high, medium and low impacts, and providing real-time warnings to the forklift operator, our forklift safety system captures the information in a centralized online telemetry Dashboard. SIERA AI helps prevent safety failures caused by paper-based records, undetected equipment issues, and unsafe operator behavior. Our data-driven approach enables proactive safety management to keep workers and product protected.

Take a look at our telemetry Dashboard. The data will help to better understand ‘where’ the incidents are occurring so you can make an informed decision while you make changes or adjustments within the identified area. As more of these are done, your near misses will begin to decrease, and incidents will be under control. Contact us today for a demo, and get rid of outdated forklift data.

OSHA Advisory Committee
September 12, 2024 – OSHA Advisory Committee Meeting

The OSHA Advisory Committee meeting was this week to provide updates on safety in the workplace. Overall, the OSHA representative shared that there continues to be 15 fatalities each day in the workplace. This includes, but not limited to power industrial trucks. As statistics continue to prove, forklift fatalities remain in the top 5 for OSHA violations as reported for FY2023. The OSHA Advisory Committee also reported that the OSHA Act from 2010 to 2022 has leveled out, meaning that the number of fatalities and injuries have not reduced, it simply has remained the same. News from the OSHA Advisory Committee is concerning.

What does this mean? This tells us that the traditional forklift safety measures have done all they can do, and something new or different needs to happen to help that number go down. However, there is a major challenge. During an economic webinar by Prestige Economics this week reported on the aging population. Since Covid, the experienced over 55 year old forklift operators have not returned to the workplace, and their numbers remain very low. In addition, the 16-19 year olds are taking those jobs and this group of inexperienced forklift operators are increasing at a steady pace.
