Is Your Company Tracking OSHA Certificates Digitally
One big challenge facing facility managers is how to track forklift OSHA certification. Even if you have one forklift driver, can you remember when the forklift operator’s certificate expires? Let’s say you have 100 forklift operators; how will you know that they are OSHA compliant? You already know what can happen to your company in the event an accident or injury occurs and the operator is not certified. What can you do to ensure compliance when you have one to one hundred operators?
What is Meant by Track Forklift OSHA Certification?
In order to track forklift OSHA certification there is the paper-based methodology or the digital way. With paper, all forklift operator certificate information is entered into a spreadsheet with dates of expiration. Then, each month the manager needs to check to ensure every person is in compliance. If not, you’ll need to inform each one with a timeframe to get it completed, which again you will need to manually check.
However, if you manage track forklift OSHA certification the digital way, it will be better and faster. However, that’s just another piece of software you will need to manage. What if you can track forklift OSHA certification right directly on your forklift safety system?
Forklift Safety with Access Control
The whole point of purchasing a forklift safety system is to ensure OSHA compliance. One of the features within the SIERA.AI forklift safety system is to ensure compliance for your forklift operators. Here’s how the system works to track forklift OSHA certification.
The forklift safety system will alert the manager from the telemetry Dashboard if/when a forklift operator certificate is going to expire. Because no individual will react to a message on the first notification, the SIERA.AI forklift safety system provides three notifications. One that is 30 days from expiration, 7 days until expiration and 1 day until expiration.
The Dashboard allows you to identify all those that need notification. Meaning, if one, two or ten people need to be notified, the system can support what you need to maintain compliance.
What if it expires? If the forklift operator’s certificate expires, the forklift safety system will not allow the operator to login and deny access to starting the forklift inspection. In order to get access back, the new certificate will need to be added to the Dashboard. Critical way to remain OSHA compliant.
What Else?
The forklift safety system can also manage multiple certificates. If you have an operator that is certified in more than one class, the system will accept all certificates. As time goes on (or back) you can also use the system to maintain expired certificates in order to know how long an individual has been certified operator and for the various class assets.
Maintaining OSHA compliance is a mandate. Being able to track forklift OSHA certification digitally with notifications will keep your company in compliance automatically. Be sure to review the other access control features including:
- Identifying who is on the forklift at all times
- Restricting those that are not authorized to be on the forklift
- Manage the shut off of a forklift directly from the Dashboard from anywhere…at any time.
- The forklift is required to have a forklift inspection completed at every shift
