Top Safety Challenges Organizations Face Today
Safety + Health magazine conducted a survey entitled, “2025 State of Safety”. It was very focused with only a few questioned asked. However, there was one question that was worth discussing in this article. The question states: What are your biggest challenges to improve safety and health in your organization. There were 13 answers provided and the top three answers were as follows: Lack of resources including budget, time and head count at 41% of the respondents, Lack of worker engagement at 38% of respondents and safety viewed as a burden or time and productivity drain at 32% of respondents. With the top safety challenges organizations face today, does it need to be so difficult?
Is There a Way to Address these Challenges?
We’ll be addressing these three top answers in a more focused way with an AI forklift safety system and provide some answers to how to overcome the issues. Forklifts have been consistently in the top 10 safety issues for numerous years, and it seems safety solutions have gone as far as they could. Now, it is just about maxed out. Until AI technology came along. Now as it is yet slow to adapt and implement, it is slowly gaining steam. This can be the perfect time to get one of the top safety challenges organizations face today under control.
Lack of Resources
Under lack of resources included budget, time and head count. One of the ways to get your arms around budget is to follow the formula that we supply you in our presentations. No new technologies are cheap to purchase, so you need to know what your return on investment is, and how long it will take you to make the money back. That’s what we provide. There are three main categories: Damages, Injuries / Fatalities and Labor Churn. By the time you add these up against the investment in an AI forklift safety system, you are only talking about months.
Lack of Worker Engagement
If organizations want safety to work, it’s important to have the workers involved in the evaluation and purchase of the solutions and have the knowledge to understand why. Aren’t the safety measures for them as well? Our AI forklift safety system is here to protect everyone and everything. We encourage them to view our system, know how it’s going to help them, such as ‘you work’ and the system will be the set of eyes watching so they can get their job done. In addition, give the operators access to the system so they can see for themselves what it tracked while they worked. Information for the drivers only help them to be better drivers.
Time and Productivity Drain
When it comes to a forklift safety system, it’s going to reduce downtime on the forklifts and increase productivity as the drivers can get their actual job done! The amount it takes to conduct the forklift inspection remains the same, except you are getting better information. The system will let you know where the issues are and inform you of it so you can keep working while it watches for those trying to jump behind the forklift or backing out of a racking system. How does that reduce productivity …exactly. It doesn’t.
