Real-Time Visibility into the Dashboard Reduces Forklift Downtime
If there’s anything that hinders production and efficiency is when there is a forklift or forklifts that are out of commission because of a breakdown. Either because it got into an impact, wasn’t cared for the right way, or it had a problem that nobody knew about. Downtime costs a company money. If you don’t have a spare forklift, that is one full forklift and a worker not being productive fulfilling orders or putting away goods. If you do have a spare forklift, you may be in a better place. However, you certainly lost time out of the day. Can this be better managed?
How Does the Real-Time Visibility into the Dashboard Reduces Forklift Downtime?
The SIERA AI Dashboard can give you real-time visibility into knowing the answers into the OSHA compliance checklist and more. This will tell you the health of the forklift because you can see all of the data and know where the issues or weaknesses reside. In addition, because the forklift digital inspection checklist has the capability of randomizing the questions to garner better results, you’ll get better, more accurate data to plan for maintenance. All of this works towards extending the lift of the forklifts so you can get more out of your 5 year investment.
Where are the Impacts Occurring?
Safety professionals may know where some of the impacts are occurring because you can see the damage. Here are some areas where you will find out new and accurate data from the Dashboard: how often are the impacts occurring at particular areas and who is on the forklift? Why do you want to know this information? Because if you know how often impacts are occurring in a particular area with our GPS and heat map reports, the safety professional will know where to make changes. Once the changes are made, then track online if they continue to occur or does the number of impacts begin to decrease. If for some reason it doesn’t, the next step to take a look at is the ‘who’.
The SIERA AI forklift safety system takes a picture of the driver at the instant an impact is made. It is automatically captured and reported. The safety professional can take a look at the picture of the driver and know if there is a pattern: looking away, on the phone, or an honest accident. Once the determination is made, tailored training can be done for the driver to change the behavior to reduce impacts.
Object and Pedestrian Detection
Again, these are two separate areas that we track on the Dashboard. If you have the pedestrian detection feature on our forklift safety system, then you will monitor and track each object and person that goes within the pre-defined space. Meaning, if anything comes close to the forklift, let’s say 10’, 5’ or even 7’, it will give an audio and visual warning. For each one, it will report it on the Dashboard so you know if more people or objects come within the safety zone. There are lots of take aways from this. You may say too many workers are not paying attention, or the driver isn’t or you may decide you need to create a walkway for pedestrians to reduce the number of meetings the two have. If there are too many object, those generally are not moving. So you can take a closer look as to why the driver is coming into too much contact with the forklift.
