Does OSHA Severe Injury Report Includes Forklifts Go Far Enough? Find Out.
About a month ago, OSHA released a video on its new OSHA Severe Injury Report includes forklifts. Here’s the link to it on YouTube. The video shows the new dashboard reporting on all of the severe injuries which they hope can help safety professionals get a deeper understanding of type of injuries, which body part was affected and which state it occurred. Being able to sort through a database of data can and does bring critical insights into your safety planning, which is why the SIERA.AI Dashboard is at the heart of our forklift safety system. Let’s take a deeper dive into this.
What is the OSHA Severe Injury Report Includes Forklifts?
This is a data base of injuries that OSHA professionals found and reported over the years. The database has been ‘cleaned up’ to include the keywords in the narrative to make it easier to extract the information. The database can extract for you a full report, meaning everything in the database to certain injuries and other data such as total hospitalized workers, amputations, geography, top events and exposures. They do recommend keeping the sorting simple and drill down as needed.
Much of this data includes the results of forklift accidents, fatalities and injuries. It doesn’t specify for forklifts. This is where SIERA.AI can take over and help bring more data and depth into the picture.
The SIERA.AI Dashboard
The SIERAI.AI forklift safety Dashboard continues with more in-depth data than the OSHA Severe Injury Report includes forklifts. The AI-based forklift safety system has an intelligent camera that is constantly collecting data and categorizing it for fast access and reporting. The graphics-based telemetry Dashboard places the more wanted information right in viewing. Click on any of the information for a deeper dive into the origination of the data.
What’s Collected
Inspection Data: One of the first items collected is the pre-shift inspection data. Since the inspection is now digital, you get all of the answers to the questions directly on the Dashboard. This data can be used to determine the health and safety of your forklifts with detail. Now you can extend the life of your forklifts not just with the forklift safety system that reduces accidents and keeps them running at maximum capacity.
Near Miss Reporting: Collect data on the oops, almost, yikes and OMG’s with near miss reporting. By collecting this data, you will know how often slamming on the brakes occur and know if it was a person or object that was ‘almost’ hit. What this means is you can go to that location and figure out what needs to be changed or fixed to bring down those near misses.
Impact Reporting: If you want to know what kind of impacts occurring in your facility, now you will know in greater detail. Impacts are defined by G-Force, and based on what you want to define your impacts as, is how you will know if it is a low, medium or high impact. Each impact is measured and recorded into the Dashboard and you can be notified for just the high’s, high and medium or all of the above. It’s up to you.
Pedestrian Detection and Object Detection: This is reported separately as we are monitoring and reporting it to the driver separately. When the data is collected, we calculate and report which one’s were pedestrians and objects. Drill down further and find out ‘where’ with our GPS tracker.
Data is critical and works to make the facility safer for everyone and everything. Contact us to get a demo of our Dashboard.
