4 Ways to be Successful with Forklift Telemetry
Forklift telemetry is the most critical aspect to purchasing a forklift safety system. It is the single location that stores, sorts and reports on the most critical information that is being captured in your manufacturing, warehouse and/or distribution center. But getting started can be tricky…right? Well, it depends. Let’s take a look at four ways you can be successful with your forklift telemetry purchase.
What is Forklift Telemetry?
The Forklift telemetry, also referred to as forklift telematics utilizes AI machine learning technology to identify and capture information that is going on around the forklift’s environment. This includes pedestrians, and objects such as customer product, another piece of equipment or the facility infrastructure in order to maintain OSHA compliance and reduce accidents. Most forklift safety systems do not utilize AI machine learning technology, this pertains to SIERA.AI in particular.
#1 Customer Support Makes You Successful
Customer support or knowing who your customer success team is, is critical to reaching your goals. Many forklift telemetry systems can be difficult to navigate and can take a long time to learn. A forklift telemetry system should be intuitive or takes into consideration what is important to you. For instance, OSHA compliance, how many forklifts failed an inspection, which forklift (and its driver) surpassed the assigned G-force on impacts are issues that are important to many of SIERA.AI customers.
# 2 Is there a Live Person on the Other Side?
Regardless of how technology has overtaken the telephone system, we all appreciate when a person answers the phone. What before (some years ago now) use to be commonplace when you placed a call now has become automated. The intention of the automation was to help navigate customers to their end goal faster. Instead, it has created much frustration and wasted time.
As SIERA.AI was building its customer success team a few years ago, we took ‘service’ into high consideration. As a result, our customer success team answers the phone when you have a question. It sounds like a new concept, but we understand that forklift telemetry is vital to your business decisions and want to be sure we are there to support your safety and production goals.
#3 Forklift Agnostic
This is a short one, but a critical one. As you evaluate forklift telemetry system, make sure it works on any manufacturer’s forklift. Many companies just don’t buy from one forklift manufacturer. If that’s you, be sure the forklift telemetry system is forklift agnostic like SIERA.AI’s.
#4 Make Use of All the Data Collected
Data is king. Collecting a ton of data doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll make better decisions. Sometimes it can be more confusing and difficult to navigate in the forklift telemetry system. What’s important to consider is what data do you need and how are you going to apply it to the business. Since we’re in the business of safety, let’s list a few areas that are important to you:
• Track high, medium and low impacts
• Track near misses
• Track failed forklift inspection
• Remote forklift access control
Now if these areas are of importance to you, then it’s best to show you data in a demo. Why is a demo good? You get to experience the power and insights firsthand. We (secretly) want to see or hear how easy, intuitive and robust the SIERA.AI telemetry Dashboard is. It never gets old. The telemetry Dashboard works in unison with our S2 Digital Checklist with Impact Monitoring AND the S3 Pedestrian Detection System. But no worries, the S3 has all of the features of the SIERA.AI S2 and all of the features of the SIERA.AI S3.
