Increased Security Added to SIERA.AI’s Forklift Safety System
Software security is a valuable and instrumental part of the forklift safety system as it ensures the functional reliability and integrity of its results. In the latest 2.1.0 release for the telemetry Dashboard, we’ve released a new password policy to ensure the protection of the vast data stored in the system as well as adhere to the rigid security requirements of various industrial organizations. Let’s take a closer look at the increased security added to SIERA.AI’s forklift safety system.
What is a Password Policy?
A Password Policy is a set of rules that govern how employees set up a unique password that gain them access to various levels of secure, critical data. As organizations have differing internal strategies for password policies, SIERA.AI has developed a format that accommodates their password security standards.
Forklift Safety System Dashboard Set Up
Within the Account Settings of the telemetry Dashboard, a new section labeled ‘Password Policy’ encompasses the easy-to-use set up for the password requirements. Based on your organizations internal policy, the Admin or Owner can implement the toggle of what is to be included in the Password. To begin, set the length minimum length of the password. The password can include Uppercase Characters, Lowercase Characters, Numbers and any special characters such as the !, $, &, % and many more. We recommend a minimum of eight characters; however, we accommodate a more elaborate or intricate password policy, allowing our system to go up as much as 128 characters.
Additional Requirements to Enhance the Security of the Password Policy
Many companies have included additional requirements for their password policy. We agree and have included the increased security to SIERA.AI’s Forklift Safety System. Here are a few sections added to the telemetry Dashboard. Please request a demo to view the more detailed features.
Password Expiration: Use the toggle to turn on the password expiration option. We’ve set the security system to expire every 365 days. However, this is the general recommendation. If your organization has a different policy, you have the option of setting the password to expire every day or 1 day all the way up to five years. The flexible option is based on your organizations criteria.
Password Reuse: This is an important aspect to the password policy. The forklift safety system Dashboard will remember a set number of used past passwords. The system can remember from one to ten previously used passwords. The Admin can set the rules for password reuse.
Password Lockout on the Dashboard: Based on your security policy, the user will have a maximum amount of attempts before being locked out of the system and wait time before attempting access to the Dashboard again.
Importance of the Data
Forklift safety systems are constantly collecting data as it moves throughout the facility giving safety professionals a real-time, inside ‘look’ of the real-time movements of your assets. The data collected will give you information such as:
- Tracking the number of pedestrians that came within a defined distance of the forklift
- Tracking the number of object that came within a defined distance of the forklift
- Tracking the number of near misses by a pedestrian that came withing a defined distance of the moving asset
- Tracking the number of near misses by an object that came within a defined distance of the moving asset
- How many passed the digital forklift inspection
- How many failed the digital forklift inspection
The telemetry Dashboard allows you to investigate and analyze the data further so action can be taken to make areas safer for moving people and assets. Our goal is to help you reach your goal of zero accidents.
