A forklift safety sheet usually sits on a clipboard ready to be used by the lift truck operator in order to check the health of the equipment prior to the start of the shift. Although everyone knows the purpose of the forklift safety sheet, we can all agree that short cuts are taken, reduced effort is likely, or skipping the forklift safety sheet are also options that forklift operators may take, even in the best facilities. What is a Forklift Safety Sheet?

A forklift safety sheet is a list of questions that are consistently asked of the forklift operator to check prior to the start of a shift. The forklift operator is to answer each question with accuracy in order for safety and maintenance professionals to care for the safety of the operator and forklift so both can work as efficiently and effectively as possible.
