Forklift Anti-Collision System for Proactive Safety
We don’t need a Forklift Anti-Collision System, does this sound familiar? And then a few days later you find out that one of your forklifts in your forklift fleet had an accident.
You go to check it out and find there’s some dents and scratches on the forklift, but the product it was carrying is lost and the racking system was damaged and needs to be replaced. Oh, and you haven’t found out yet if someone got hurt.
As a manager, frustration sets in as no one is accountable for the damages caused by the accident. Your top 2 challenges are to know who was on the forklift and understand what caused the accident so you know what you can do to help prevent ‘a next time’. Instead, you get silence from your employees, “it wasn’t me…or it was already damaged when I got here”.
The old way of handling forklift collisions is to write off the damages, inform everyone of an upcoming safety meeting and re-teach key safety procedures.
Is that really going to fix your forklift safety situation? Possibly not, since industry statistics already show that 1 in 10 forklifts will be involved in a collision in a given year.

Forklift Anti-Collision Safety Systems
Technology has come a long way and has made its way to the material handling industry. As there is no telling where a forklift or worker needs to go each day, every day can be a new route and experience.
Depending on which anti-collision safety system is best for you, here are a couple considerations:
Pedestrian detection on any forklift
Pedestrian detection with slow to a safe stop
Both these anti-collision safety systems do the same thing, but the slow to a safe stop takes it one step further. Let me explain. The pedestrian detection system is constantly monitoring in all 4 directions of the forklift. When a pedestrian or an obstruction comes within the three pre-defined areas, it will give an audio and visual alert. However, the slow to a safe stop will override the driver and automatically stop the forklift.
Forklift Anti-Collision System: Gain Control of Your Facility
As a warehouse, manufacturing or distribution center manager, you want to keep everyone safe, your product write-offs as low as possible and have everyone accountable for their actions. By exploring and hopefully implementing an anti-collision safety solution, you will have the tools you need to keep your facility running as efficiently as possible.
