How Can Automated Telemetry Give You Custom Alerts
Automated telemetry is a mandatory feature that every manager for industrial mobile equipment such as forklifts, reach trucks and golf carts need. Why? Because you just don’t have the time to dig into the details of a telemetry system, you don’t want to hire a dedicated person working hours on the telemetry software, so why can’t it tell you what you want…when you want it? Well, it can.
What is Automated Telemetry?
Automated telemetry is a big word that can be use across various industries. One way automated telemetry is used is in a hospital’s cardiac unit. With the patches put on a person’s chest area, the system can alert the nurses when the heart rhythms are not performing properly.
Well, the same concept holds true for the industrial mobile industry. Anything that is moving about in a manufacturing, distribution center or warehouse needs to be tracked and reported on critical aspects of the mobile units.
How to Automate Telemetry on Forklifts
There are solutions in the market today that are either telemetry solutions, or forklift safety solutions, but few know how to merge them both into one forklift safety system. Today, let’s discuss how the S2 Digital Inspection with Impact Detection automated telemetry in order to monitor, track and notify what every manager wants to know. I’m going to start with the latest from SIERA.AI’s new extended telemetry coverage.
Notification Settings
Notification are the best way to keep getting your work done and let the system tell you when it needs your attention. Notification settings are what do you want to know at each of your facilities and indicate when you want to be notified. Not a bad deal, right?
Impact Notifications
Impact notifications are a critical part of the notification settings for automated telemetry. Let’s say you have three facility locations. Facility A, Facility B, and Facility C. In each of these facilities are different products that can vary by weight, height and length. Which means, what the forklift carries in each of these facilities will vary, and knowing when there is a problem can vary as well. If you have a medium impact in facility A, that might not be important to B and C. B will have a different definition based on product they store or manufacture and same with C.
So, since each facility can have a different definition of low, medium and high impact, you want to have your notification settings properly reflect the environment. Which also means, your notifications are independent of each facility.
If you want to get notifications for high impacts in Facility A, but medium impacts for Facility B and know every hit for Facility C…okay. You can do that. It’s up to you.
Unauthorized Users on a Forklift
Now, clearly, that won’t be the case when it comes to unauthorized people trying to gain access onto the forklift, or better yet, unauthorized forklift operator where the certifications are no longer valid. That was just talked about, here’s the link to that article.
