Recap of the ASSP Safety Show in Chicago, IL
The ASSP Safety Show for 2022 just ended on Wednesday. Last year was the first in-person show, and now again we were all able to celebrate together again with a bit more ease in Chicago, IL. The sessions were well attended and the exhibit hall showed promise of interest even as the threats of recession looms over all of our heads. What were attendees of the ASSP Safety Show interested in?
Forklift Safety Systems
We had numerous attendees interested in forklift safety for both OSHA compliance and pedestrian detection. Sometimes I think we take for granted that everyone has heard of digital forklift inspection. The reality is that not all EHS managers were aware that digital forklift inspection with Dashboard telemetry existed. The SIERA.AI team educated safety managers on the details of the solution and how it can work to solve their current challenges. What kind of challenges did we hear most often?
- Pencil whipping
- Didn’t complete the paperwork
- OSHA fined
The safety managers were very eager to find a solution, and a digital forklift inspection was beyond their expectations.
Pedestrian Detection System
Many other ASSP Safety Show attendees were in search for a forklift monitoring system. We heard stories about pedestrians almost getting hit by a forklift truck. I heard at least a dozen stories a day about how the company had a close call with pedestrians and forklifts crossing paths. Now there were five of us in the booth. We all were hearing differing stories, so times a dozen stories times five and we’re just skimming the surface of what is occurring out in the industry each day.
The interest was high and numerous follow ups will be done in the coming weeks for either this year’s budget, or planning for next year. The one thing for sure is that everyone will be holding their breath until a solution is found.
The Excitement of Near Misses
It was a great opportunity to hear from the ASSP Safety Show attendees what they plan on doing with the near misses tracking. The attendees loved the ability to understand where the near misses may be happening within their facility. They all were in agreement that near misses is a preview to a forklift accident. To understand where near misses occur and fixing that area will automatically eliminate or reduce forklift accidents. It’s a perfect way to preempt a forklift accident. We couldn’t agree more.
Customer Visits
I always find it exciting when we can see customers face to face. It’s a pleasure when they stop by just to say hi and have a conversation about how things are going for them. You know it is going well when they begin to talk about the next phase of the rollout to other facilities around the country or abroad. We appreciate every customer that stopped by and shared their stories, ambitions and of course a few drinks in celebration of their success.
We look forward to many more successes with the ASSP Safety Show. If we can be of service to you now with a trial of the S3, let’s get it done so you can begin to enjoy the rewards of a safe environment with forklifts and pedestrians both under one roof.
